We had a lovely surprise when we recently checked our JustGiving account. 320 people had donated a total of £2,255.91 to the Charity in March!!
The donations had been generated by @HarryBarnes1 who runs the Twitter account @_DHOTYA (Didn’t Happen Of The Year Awards). On the 15th March, Harry called for his followers to donate to a Special Needs Charity following negative posts about people with Special Needs on the account. Whilst the original post was taken down, Harry found our JustGiving page and asked his followers to donate. Harry explained to Jon, ASNP Treasurer, “I chose to fundraise for ASNP as I wanted the money to go to a small local Charity that was helping people with Special Needs”.
Harry set a target of £150, but exceeded this by 1276%, raising over £1900 in donations plus nearly £350 extra in Gift Aid. Jon, ASNP Treasurer said “I don’t think the Trustees, and everyone connected with the Charity, can thank the people that donated monies enough, but if you are one of them and you are reading this, please accept our heartfelt thanks. A very special thank you goes to @harrybarnes1 for thinking of our Charity.”
It’s a difficult time for all charities at the moment. Donations like this are invaluable and help us look forward to a future where we’re able to help more families and SEN children!
If you’re able to support us in anyway we’d be very grateful – or if you’d like to hold your own fundraiser in honour of ASNP just give us an email (info@adurspecialneedsproject.org.uk) to see how we can support you!
